Anesthesia Duration Does Not Exist in a Surgical Vacuum

To the Editor In a recent retrospective database analysis, Brady et al dramatically opined in the title and repeatedly in the article that anesthesia duration is directly associated with several adverse outcomes in patients undergoing microvascular reconstruction procedures. This is a misleading and alarming claim which may lead to physician and lay public misunderstanding of the effects of general anesthesia.
