Limitations, Transparency, and Conclusions

To the Editor With great interest, we read the recent article by Brady et al. The authors present an association of anesthesia duration in free flap surgery with postoperative complications. Based on their findings that anesthesia duration is an independent risk factor for complications, they conclude that "… reduced anesthesia time, particularly to less than 11 hours, should be the goal…." Everyone involved in the treatment of these patients will sign this statement. However, we want to raise some questions about why we are not entirely in accord that this suggestion is supported by the presented data.
