Online ahead of print. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the efficacy of botulinum toxin A (BTX A) in improving the aesthetic appearance of lips. Twenty-four outpatients with clinical evidence indicating decreased fullness of lips or gummy smile were selected and received BTX A injection on the orbicularis oris. We observed a significant decrease in wrinkles and improvement in gummy smile in all patients 4 weeks after the injection. Aesthetic lines also changed significantly. Local injection of BTX A on the orbicularis oris could simultaneously achieve mild lip enhancement, improvement in fine wrinkles around lips, and mild gummy smile.
