Mucocutaneous manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease in central China. a single-center study

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of idiopathic inflammatory conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which consists of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). IBD has multiple extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs), and the prevalence of mucocutaneous manifestations in IBD has been reported as 21%-41%¹. This study aimed at investigating the prevalence of mucocutaneous manifestations (recurrent aphthous ulcer [RAU], erythema nodosum [EN], psoriasis and pyoderma gangrenosum [PG]) of IBD and analyzing of the associations of diseases in a large treatment center of central China. All cases gave oral informed consent prior to inclusion. This study received the agreement of our committee for the protection of persons involved in clinical research.
