Abstract

We read the letter by Mendes-Bastos et al. with concern.¹ Simply testing patients for latent tuberculosis solves the problem, and the authors did not mention that rifampin is an acceptable monotherapy for latent tuberculosis.² Hidradentitis suppurativa has the highest impact on quality of life of all dermatological diseases,³ and clindamycin and rifampin are a cornerstones of frequently failing therapy regimes.³ At the same time drug-resistant tuberculosis is a tremendous public health problem, particularly in China, the former Soviet Union, and India.
