ABSTRACT

A lump in the throat (globus pharyngeus) is a form of paresthesia of the upper respiratory tract that impairs the quality of life of about 45% of people. This symptom is not pathognomonic for any disease. To improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment of patients with a complaint of a lump in the throat, a comprehensive examination and treatment of 47 patients aged 28 to 75 years were carried out, in which this complaint persisted despite the pathogenetic treatment. In the study, we used a video laryngoscope and a single-channel device for electrical stimulation. The results of the work showed that in more than 70% of the observed patients, the accommodation coefficient was reduced. This indicates a violation of the neuromuscular transmission of the larynx. By the end of treatment, in 68.1% of patients, the studied parameter was within its nor mal values. A comparative analysis of the degree of coma in the throat before and after treatment with the a single-channel device for electrical stimulation apparatus showed that by the end of treatment, all patients showed a decrease in the severity of the symptom, with 70.2% of patients reporting its absence. Conducted psychological testing revealed that in more than 60% of patients indicators of mental activity, tension and comfort were moderately changed. After a course of neuromuscular electrophonopedic stimulation, all examined patients showed positive dynamics in the form of restoration of mental activity, reduction of tension and increase of comfort.
