Commentary on: Simultaneous Use of Selective Neurectomy With Liposuction for Calf Reduction in Asians

The preceding article on calf reduction is significant for several reasons, not the least of which is to draw attention to the under reported perceptions of patients regarding the appearance of their calves.¹ Patient concern regarding breast, abdominal, buttock, and facial appearance are the most commonly considered cosmetic areas of interest among lay and professional audiences. Although our clinical experience with cosmetic calf surgery has only been through calf augmentation with fat grafting it has become apparent that this anatomic area is a very significant cosmetic focal point.²
