Commentary on: Labia Majora Augmentation: A Systematic Review of the Literature

Labiaplasty or reduction of the labia minora has been the focus of aesthetic vulvar surgeons for years, reflected in the abundance of publications describing surgical resection techniques, outcomes, and complications. The outer lips or labia majora, clitoral hood, and the introitus contribute as well to the overall aesthetic of the female perineum yet procedures to enhance these structures are scarcely described in the literature. The perceived gold standard for vulvar beauty is smooth, plump, and narrowly effaced labia majora, small tucked-in labia minora and a deprojected clitoral hood (Figure 1).
